Smitten with Wales

Broadhaven, Wales

Oh my, I am really quite smitten and slightly obsessed. Isn’t that beautiful? It is in Wales. That town over there on the left is called Broad Haven and we’ll be staying there later this year because we’re going to a wedding. So that’s two new things in go: Wales and an English wedding.

But. Wow. Isn’t it beautiful? I know it’s supposed to rain a lot in Wales, so it might not look like this when we go. However, people say that it rains a lot in Scotland too, but I spent nearly two months there in the autumn some years ago, and it rained maybe once! So fingers crossed.

The wedding will take up 1-2 days or something, but we’re there for about a week, and I am (of course) already planning and scheming about where to go and what to see! So any suggestions are very welcome!

I think we’ll definitely see if we can go to Skomer, an island off the coast to the south of this place. I expect it will be quite rugged and beautiful. And hopefully, we’d be able to catch a glimpse of some puffins! Because Skomer is a breading ground for lots of birds, like Manx Shearwaters, Guillemots, Peregrine Falcons and owls. Now, I am not that into birds (my sister is the crazy bird lady!), but it would be pretty cool to see some of these birds in the wild. Oh, and there are seals too! Imagine the sketching I could do. :-)

Of course, we’ll also be keeping an eye out for those Welsh dragons. ;-)

    Carina,
I was born in Scotland, now live in Australia, and I have to say, it rains more where I live here in Oz than it did in Scotland – oh, and more fog too!

Hope you have a wonderful time.

    Cheers
    Fi
