Did you watch the opening ceremony of the London Olympics? What did you think?
I must say that I found it..lacking. Can’t quite put my finger on it. It didn’t inspire me, it lacked the grand gestures, I think. And it didn’t move me either; not a single goose-bump moment.
The ‘celebration’ of the NHS and Great Ormond Street Hospital seemed a bit out of place.. kinda political. I dunno. And the whole thing seemed to go on for too long and it felt a bit dis-jointed. The whole thing felt like a history lesson with a bit of music and dance thrown in to make it a bit more…fun/interesting.. Maybe I missed it, but there didn’t really seem to be an over all theme to pull everything together.
The best bit was the teams from all the countries walking into the stadium. They were so happy and you could tell how much it meant to them to be there. And the lighting of the cauldron which was really different and quite stunning.
I have to agree with you about the opening ceremonies, everything was kinda weird and well, not quite up to par, especially when it came to sir paul, a shadow of what he once was, and maybe that is what the whole thing said. England, a shadow of what it once was…
