What a mess! But it’s my mess..

Messy shelves

Sometimes I get so very tired of all those perfect blogs and lifestyle mags with perfect homes and whatnot. They do not in any way reflect my reality – and not even how I wish my reality were. Life in those blogs and mags seems styled, and stylized, so much that you sometimes have to wonder if that is actually someone’s home and not a set in a photo studio…

I’m not at all immune to the “make everything look nice and pretty and clean and cool” bug. I don’t want to show people my mess. Except… today I’m gonna show it to you! And it really is messy, ye be warned! I took these pictures of the current state of spaces in my home – and if you ever see a nice and pretty photo on this here blog, you can be almost certain that this sort of mess is lurking just inches away. Except if we’ve just had visitors – I do know how to tidy and clean. I’m not that big a slob, you know. ;-)

So, this is it, my unedited mess. Feel free to share links to yours in the comments. Please make me feel that I’m not the only one. ;-)

Messy desk + evidence of lunch!

I took this photo just after eating lunch. By my computer. That’s not an accident waiting to happen. At. All. Poor R2 has keeled over…

Messy coffee table

Coffee table. Full of random arty/crafty things, magazines, my old mobile and my comb. What that is doing there, I have no idea…

Messy side table

Side table next to the sofa. More crafty things. And sweet wrappers, uh oh. Half-finished crochet project, bits of thread..

Messy book shelves

The bookcase isn’t looking too bad, but it’s still messy – surely those books have proper homes instead of being piled randomly on top of other books? And what’s with the Christmas decs that were never put away after last Christmas? Oh boy.

I'd be right at home in your mess. My entire house looks like this, and I love it. I really do like being surrounded by stuff!!

I finally got fed up with my mess and put it all in a big bag. Now the room is clean, and every day I take one thing out of the big bag and either put it away or throw it away! So comforting to see I'm not the only one, thanks for sharing/revealing!
