Support the Little Book of Craftivism

I’ve got an interview with Sarah Corbett of the Craftivist Collective coming up very soon, but I wanted to mention something before that. Sarah has put together a book about Craftivism which is set to be published later this year. Here’s what it’s all about in Sarah’s own words:

We have what we are currently calling ‘A Little Book of Craftivism’ (but the name might change) coming out in October 2013 with Cicada Books who are brilliant and published the awesome craft books ‘Making Stuff’ & “State of Craft’ as well as other creative books. We had to crowd source half of the budget because it is a risk for Cicada to put up all the money for such a niche thing & we have nearly reached our target which is awesome.

It will be a very small book full of images as examples of craftivism, a few projects, & explain the benefits of craftivism for maker and reciever/viewer. The point is that it is a small introduction book not too heavy but for anyone to flick through and see that craftivism is part of the activism tool kit & hopefully provokes people to think about the issues we discuss and how we can all be our best selves. We are hoping people buy this small cheap book for friends and family to flick through in their living rooms, toilets and create conversations and action :)

I think the Little Book of Craftivism is a really wonderful project but it will only get published if they reach their funding goal of $6,000 by Feb 1st. They are so close to reaching that goal, less than $200 to go! So if you’d like to see this book published, do consider helping out if you can and if this is something that interests you. You can donate any amount you like, but if you donate over $15 your name will be mentioned in the book. Fun! :-)
