When did you last clean your scissors and shears? I am kinda embarrassed to say that I have never cleaned mine. I never really thought about it to be honest.
But the other day I was doing some sewing and, thus, some cutting of fabric. At one point, my shears started to feel a bit sluggish and I thought, what can I do to fix this?
What I did was wipe the blades to remove all the little particles of fabric. That actually helped quite a bit! I also put a tiny drop of (sewing machine) oil on them and now they cut smoothly again.
I have decided that from now on I am going to wipe the shears after each sewing session. I do the same with my rotary cutter. I want my cutting tools to stay sharp!
And at some point in the not too far away future I’m going to find someone who can sharpen my scissors and shears. Not completely sure what kind of place does that.
