As promised, some pictures from Tivoli in Copenhagen. Actually, I’m sorry to say that a lot of the pictures I took were kinda dark and not share worthy, but there are a few that turned out ok. Luckily, they are also of some of my favourite bits. :-)
So there you have the main entrance. It’s right off a very busy road in the centre of Cph. and only a few minutes walk from the main train station so it’s easy to find if you fancy a visit.
This is the Pantomime theatre and it is probably my favourite thing in Tivoli. All exotic and colourful.
The theatre is also known as Påfuglescenen (the ‘Peacock stage’) for obvious reasons!
There are quite a few sections that have an Eastern feel to them, like this ‘Chinatown’ and the Pagoda. If I’d been on my own with all the time in the world I would probably have sat down to do a sketch of the Pagoda…
One section was covered with a mirrored ceiling. Slightly disorienting to be honest, but also quite a cool effect. That’s Tony and my dad there in the corner. I think this is when they were debating what ice cream to get. :-)
I didn’t think this picture would turn out as well as it did. I love the colour of the water with the reflections…
The grounds are beautiful with lots of flowers and other plants. We would have loved to sit in the more flowery bits and just look at people and the lake and the flowers. Sadly, Tony gets pretty bad hay fever so that’s not really an option.
There are lots of coloured lights in Tivoli. But they didn’t have quite the impact they would’ve had at other times of the year. In the middle of summer it stays light until quite late in Denmark and the pretty lights weren’t quite so.. magic. They were pretty, though!
Behind the trees you can just spot the top of the main entrance.
Yeah, there’s no way you’d get me on that that. See it? Behind the white building? Terrifying just to look at!
Speaking of peacocks. There are peacocks in Tivoli. I’m not entirely sure how freely they roam the grounds, but they didn’t seem terribly concerned with all the humans. I loved the white one. I’ve never seen a white peacock before.
While Tony and my dad were getting ice cream all of a sudden I saw this lady and had to sneak a picture of her dress because it’s awesome! :-)
