Five Friday Favourites – March 31

Five Friday Favourites
This week’s favourites are a bit of a funny mix. I think. I dunno, maybe not. What do you think?

New pillow. I got a new pillow this week. The old one, was well, getting old! I’ve had it for at least 5 years and it’s been feeling lumpy and uncomfortable for quite a while. But now I have a new one and it’s so lovely and comfortable. I’m sure I sleep better because of it! :-)

Ok, this favourite isn’t actually from this week, but I keep thinking how grateful I am for it, so I’m gonna count it: we got a new vet for Blake and he’s just great. The old vet didn’t show any interest in Blake at all, didn’t try to get him to feel comfortable, so no wonder it took three people to hold him for his rabies shot last year. But the new vet, well, that’s a different story. He made a fuss of Blake, scratched him behind the ears and got him to eat a biscuit. Blake still wasn’t keen on being at the vet’s, but at least he was just a tiny bit more relaxed.

The glorious sunshine yesterday! Such a lovely day. 21°C, in March! I didn’t even need to wear a jacket on our afternoon walk.

I don’t watch a lot of tv, and definitely don’t follow many series, but recently I’ve become hooked on one called The Goldbergs. Have you heard of it? Here’s a short description from Wikipedia: “The Goldbergs is set in the 1980s in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. The show is loosely based on the showrunner’s [Adam Goldberg] own childhood, during which he videotaped events, many of which are re-enacted throughout the program. It shows the reality of the ’80s from a young boy’s eyes.”

I grew up in the 80s and it’s kinda nice to reminisce about it through the show. Although, since it takes place in the US and the main character is a boy, I don’t relate to all of it. The show is laugh out loud funny and toe-curlingly cringeworthy at times. I didn’t like the show at first, but now I’m really looking forward to our new evening routine. After dinner, Tony takes Blake for his evening walk while I do the dishes. When Tony comes back we sit down and watch The Goldbergs together. We don’t watch a lot of the same stuff on telly, so it’s nice to have this together. And maybe I just really need something simple and nostalgic right now.

I can’t believe that I’m saying this, but I weeded the front garden this weekend and I like it. Or rather, I don’t hate it. I’m not much of a garden person, unless you count sitting in the shade with a book! The garden was pretty covered in weeds so it was time I did something about it. Unfortunately, there wasn’t room in our bin to finish the job because it was already half full of grass from the lawn. But at least now you can see the flowers I actually planted and not just the weeds! I feel like I accomplished quite a lot in half an hour or so. :-)
