Making new patterns has been a bit slow over the past couple of years so I am absolutely delighted to share not just one but two new embroidery patterns with you!
Mandala inspired as you can see. I have wanted to return to this type of design for a while. And I have a bunch more waiting to be stitched. That makes me very excited. :-)
When I started stitching these I didn’t set out to use just two stitches for each, but that is how it turned out and I really like that. It keeps things simple. And it is nice for practicing a particular stitch. Like the one on the right, it’s all chain stitch.
What I particularly like about them is how I got into a nice rhythm when working on them. A sort of flow state. Which is very nice indeed.
You can find the patterns in my shop: Star Stitch Mandala and Chain Stitch Mandala. You can save 15% until Friday, 11th of July, with the code SINGLE15. And that code is actually valid for everything in the single pattern category. :-)

Star Stitch Mandala is just back stitch and star stitch (one of my very favourite stitches.) Back stitch is one of the most basic stitches and maybe seen as a bit boring. But I love it. When you do a line of stitching with back stitch just so, it is so satisfying. :-)

Chain stitch is also one of the basic stitches, and it is also one of my favourites. You can use it for so many things. Single lines of stitching, double lines, use it as a fill stitch (where it creates a really lovely texture), and of course it can be used in its detached form, the lazy daisy stitch.
And I guess there is a bit of all that going on in this mandala. :-)
I was actually a little daunted by all this chain stitching. It will take forever, I thought. And it kinda did. But it was worth it, I am so happy with the result. I’m glad I didn’t give into my laziness!
And once I was working on it, once I got into the zone, it did actually work up fairly quickly. I just had to get over the initial resistance.
Stitching, yay! :-)

They are beautiful, wow! Love the colors you used too. Congratulations on getting the ball rolling again.
