It’s Beginning To Look Like A Quilt

I just laid out the next section of my Denyse Schmidt hexagon quilt. Section six! And it is the second row. It feels like it is starting to take the shape of the quilt that it will become. That is very exciting!

I laid the sections out on our bed and it is almost the width of the bed. I haven’t decided how wide it will be. And I might add a wide border or a solid colour maybe. But I am far from done so I have plenty of time to make these decisions. :-)

Here is the new section laid out next to the two sections below it. I think I’m going to use a system where I change the width of the sections, altering between the rows. I don’t want the ‘seam’ between to sections to become obvious. And there may be a risk of that happening since I am working like this, section by section, because I don’t have a proper design wall where I can lay out large(r) sections.

I also have to be mindful that I don’t accidentally sort of repeat the layout of hexagons in each section. When I’m looking at that photo of the sections laid out on the bed it feels like a couple of the sections are a bit same-y.

I love how it looks so far, the fabrics are so happy and works perfectly together. But designing in sections and not being able to see the whole thing is tricky, I get that. I hope you can work it out Carina. It will be a delight.

Thank you, Hanna. It is quite tricky but I have decided not to worry about it. I’ll just do the best I can! :-D
