Customer Make: Wheel of The Year

One of my favourite things is when people get in touch to share their finished projects from one of my patterns. Shannon recently sent me such and email and I was so excited to see her project. She graciously allowed me to share some of her photos so I can show you.

The patterns she used are from the first Wheel of The Year embroidery project I designed. It ran as a stitchalong in… I had to go look it up! It ran in 2022. Eight small seasonal motifs set in a wreath design.

Shannon didn’t quite follow the pattern and I love that. It is so fun to see how people take my idea and run with it.

Shannon has used different coloured backgrounds for each season in the wheel and also changed up the thread colours and it is just fabulous. It gives me a lot of ideas when I see how other people ‘colour in’ my patterns. Because I have my own preferences so I don’t even think to do colours in a different way. Obviously. But then I see my design interpreted like this and I go “Ooohh!” :-)

Now, Shannon didn’t just embroider the motifs and call it a day. She turned the whole thing into a clock! What an amazing idea, right? I feel like rushing out (well, onto the internet) and getting myself a clock kit and making something similar. Such a cool way to use the Wheel since that also (sort of) measures time.

How cool is this finished piece? 10 out of 10, absolutely no notes. Absolutely fabulous. :-)

If you have a Polka & Bloom make you want to share, feel free to get in touch. I would love to see it and gush about it on the blog. :-D
