It Is The Season For Lussekatter

Photo of a clump of dough on a piece of parchment paper. The dough has saffron in it and it is a very intense yellow colour.

This is dough for making lussekatter, Swedish saffron buns. I am not Swedish but about ten years ago I started making these buns every year in December and it has become one of my favourite traditions.

The buns are so delicious and I just love that intense yellow colour from the saffron, so beautiful.

Here’s how my lussekatter turned out this year, fresh out of the oven:

Slightly S-shaped saffron buns on a baking tray with parchment paper.

So yellow, so pretty.

I completely forgot, but a few years ago I actually shared my (vegan) recipe for lussekatter. Do try them! I know, saffron is expensive but this is a special treat and for a special treat I think it is worth the cost. :-)
