For years I have wanted to become better at knitting. And by better I mean moving beyond basic and safe combinations of knit and purl stitches. The two main things I would like to learn is how to knit cables and how to do some kind of colour work.
Possibly inspired by the Game of Wool tv series, although I haven’t watched any of it (because everything I heard it suggested that it was pretty bad), I decided to find a simple pattern for a cable knit headband.
And I did: Easy Knit Cable Headband. It is a YouTube video and although the pattern is pretty simple, I watched pattern repeat of the video over and over again because I was afraid that I would mess it up if I did it on my own.
Towards the end I did knit it without following along with the video and I felt like that was quite the accomplishment! Aside from the knitting itself. Which I did not mess up! :-)

However, I did run out of yearn with one and a half repeat to go. Luckily, I had the same yarn in an ever so slightly different pink colour. I doubt anyone is going to notice. I certainly don’t care because I knit this cable headband without messing it up!
What should I try next? Nothing too difficult. Maybe another headband but with a slightly more complicated pattern? Maybe? :-)

It turned out super cute!! And timely weather-wise. I overcame my fear of knitting cables with a complex cable project during COVID. All the lone evenings at home were perfect for complicated knitting.
