Finished Improv Embroidery

I started this embroidery sometime last year, using odds and ends of threads. But also using some of the Weeks Dye threads I bought last year. Which, as you can probably see, are not colourfast. Or at least not all of them.

If this embroidery had been for a pattern, or for someone else, I would have been very upset by this but since this is just a random embroidery to keep my hands busy I don’t mind. In fact, I actually find it quite interesting.

Look how the colour run has made a stripy effect along this edge. I have an idea that I’m going to try and see if I can recreate that on purpose in another embroidery. Of course, since I want it to happen, then it probably won’t. :-D

Anyway, I really enjoyed stitching this. So much so that I kept finding space for ever smaller embroidery stitches so in the end there is barely any fabric visible. I love working like this, without a pattern or a plan, just some more or less random threads and a space to fill. :-)
