Swearing Is Optional

Overhead photo of a square mini quilt made of four panels. On each panel is a short statement. Clockwise from top left: crush ICE, Punch Naz*is, F*ck Tr*mp, AI is sh*t. The asterisks means that letters have been covered with a spool of sewing thread to obscure the words. If only a little bit.

After I shared my Rage Quilt (below), a few people have asked me how I made the quilt/the panels. So I thought I would make a course where I show exactly that. I used the mini quilt above as my sample. Swearing is optional if you are making a quilt (or banner or wall hanging) but I think sometimes swearing adds emphasis that you won’t get otherwise…

Anyway. The course includes seven sizes of the block letters alphabet I used in my quilt. The letters are based on my handwriting. Of course you can use your own handwriting or a font on your computer.

The course also includes around three hours of video where I share my tips for selecting fabrics, how to prepare the panels, detailed tutorials for machine stitching the letters, using zigzag stitch or free motion stitching; and finally how to put a quilt together.

I may have gone into too much detail with the stitching tutorials but I wanted to make this kind of project accessible for (adventurous) beginners who want to make something like this but maybe don’t have a lot of machine stitching experience. I guess if you are more experienced you can just skip it. :-D

Find the course here.
