Sweater To Cardigan Alteration

Photo of a slightly scrunched up on a table. The sweater is pink with large light pink flowers. Strewn in pile on top of the sweater are a yellow fabric marker, a yellow measuring tape, a large pair of scissors with orange handles, and a pink lacy ribbon is snaking its way from the middle of the sweater to the back of the neckline.

Here is another alteration project, but a bit more colourful than the one I shared on Friday!

I have had this sweater for a few years and I really like it: the colours, the pattern. The only thing I didn’t like about it is that it was a sweater. Because I’m more of a cardigan person. And the neck of the sweater was a bit tight for my (apparently) massive head!

I have wanted to alter it to a cardigan for a while but I was a bit worried that maybe I would ruin it. So I kept putting it off.

Until last week! Because I finally got up the courage and altered the sweater. I made a video about the process. I am very happy with the result.

The only thing that is a little annoying is that the clasp keeps opening. I am not sure if I can do anything about it. I might try and sew the clasp parts a bit further in on the fabric, instead of on the lace ribbon. If that doesn’t work then I guess I’ll have to figure out how to make a buttonhole or a loop or something.

But yay! I now have a new favourite cardigan! :-)
