100 Day Project 2026

I decided to do the 100 Day Project again this year. This was the plan for my project: four squares, each divided into a 5×5 grid of 1” squares. I was going to work each quarter section and then sew them together at the end so I didn’t have to use a 12” (or larger) hoop. The photo above is day three.

By this point I realised that the daily stitching would be more time consuming than I wanted it to be. I want this project to be fun, not a chore.

So now the project looks like this on day 14:

Close up photo. A wooden embroidery hoop with a white piece of fabric. On the fabric is drawn a ten by ten grid of squares. Fourteen of the squares are filled with different coloured embroidery stitches.

I decided to divide the 1” squares in half both ways so the project is now a quarter of the size. Much more manageable! The grid is uneven on purpose. I want the embroidery to feel ‘organic’ despite being a grid.

I have no plan for what is going to happen in this project. Other than to perhaps use some new-to-me stitches or some that I rarely use. I guess it will be an experimental sampler. I am looking forward to spending time with it over the coming weeks. :-)

If you have suggestions for stitches that would work well in a half inch square do leave a comment!
