Green Log Cabin Quilt WIP

Overhead photo of a corner of a wooden table. On the table is a pile og quilt blocks in mostly green colours. Next to the pile of quilt blocks are smaller piles of yellow fabric strips sorted by length.

Another quilt in progress. It started as just an in the background use up my scraps project but now it has become a proper project. I’m sure you know the distinction between the two types of project? :-)

Photo of a pile of narrow fabric strips in green, pink and purple colours.

So, as well as using up my scraps (anything narrower than 2″ is fair game), I have also spent some time cutting ‘fresh’ strips. I really like these colours together. Although, they are not the only colours that will go into the quilt.

Overhead photo of twelve quilt blocks laid out in a four by three grid. The quilt blocks are mostly green colours with some yellow and pink.

This is a little test layout of the idea I have for the quilt. There will be three types of block: only green colours; starting with green around the centre and then a different colour for the outer half; starting with a different colour around the centre and then greens for the outer half.

I really like the orange quilt I made for my sister but in hindsight maybe it was a bit too orange. Despite adding a few strips of other colours here and there. So for this quilt I am going to add a bit more variety. I can’t wait to see how this turns out. I love log cabin quilts. :-)

Thank you, Hanna. Green *is* one of the best colours! :-)
