Glittery pine cones – tutorial

Maybe you are all done with all your Christmas preparations and fancy something to while away the hours? Or, you are busy with all the wrapping and baking etc and need to keep your kids and/or husband occupied for half an hour?

This is the perfect project! And pretty too!

You will need stuff you may already have on hand: pine cones, glitter, brush, white gesso or acrylic paint. A small cup for mixing. And some tea-light holders or a pretty bowl.

Mix about a teaspoon of the gesso/paint in 1-2 tablespoons of water. It shouldn’t be too evenly mixed; if it’s a wee bit lumpy that just adds to the snowy-ness of the mix.

Dab the mix on your pine cones. Don’t be too precise, just go for it! While the paint is still wet, sprinkle glitter over the pine cones. Again, just go for it, make it sparkly!

Leave to dry and that’s it. Place on tea-light holders so they balance on the rim. Of course you won’t put a tea light inside the holder, m’kay! Or fill a bowl with your sparkly cones. They will also be a lovely, simple decoration on your table.
