WIP :: Moroccan Tile Quilt

I started this quilt in one of the workshops at the Fat Quarterly Retreat earlier this year. The pattern is by Amy Smart (she also taught the workshop) and it’s called Moroccan Tile. It is from Amy’s book called Fabulously Fast Quilts.

Earlier this week I put some time into the quilt top. It’s almost done. And then I just need to find some backing fabric. And binding. I’m thinking this Britten fabric from IKEA would make a fun contrast. Hopefully my local store has it in stock.

And of course quilt it. I’ll probably machine quilt this one. Which is a bit daunting. I’ve only ever machine quilted small quilts.

If you have any recommendations for what thread to use, I’d love to hear it!

Do you wear shoes when using your sewing machine? I find it really awkward. Like I can’t ‘feel’ the machine properly..

I am so happy with how the colours have turned out together. You just never know for sure. I think the solid aqua colour binds all the different blues and greens together very well. But because quite a few of the prints have little pops of red, pink or magenta it prevents the overall effect from being too same-y or dull.
