New pattern: Parterre de l’Eau

Parterre de l'Eau embroidery pattern

Hi! Happy April! Can I just be totally honest and say I’m freaking out slightly because it’s APRIL already. How did that happen? Freaking out aside: it’s new pattern time. Yes! Ages ago I made a pattern called Parterre du Feu and it was always my intention to make 3 other patterns (for water, wind and earth), but I just never got round to it.

Until now! Meet Parterre de l’Eau. Parterre is a French term for fancy ornate flower beds. Think Versailles, that’s the sort of thing. Anyway! I really like the look of parterres, they can be quite swirly and flowery and just asking to be the inspiration for embroidery patterns.

Parterre de l’Eau is the ‘water’ parterre, but I didn’t want to be too literal about it. There is quite a bit of blue and some wavy lines, but that’s about it. Oh and I see something that reminds me of fountains as well. That wasn’t planned. Sometimes a design gives you a surprise gift. :-)

And something that definitely wasn’t planned: it kinda reminds me of some kind of doily. Am I the only one who see that? :-)
