New Pattern: Forgotten Garden

This is my latest pattern, hot off the, well the embroidery hoop. The pattern has been a long time under way. I made the design some time last year, as part of the pattern lab subscription. Then I got distracted by other things and (plus I have an ongoing issue with the thumb on my stitching hand) so I don’t think I started stitching the pattern until the beginning of this year. But now it is finally done!

The pattern is called Forgotten Garden. Not entirely sure why. The name popped into my head as I was finishing the stitching. I quite like the name…

Forgotten Garden is in my shop now.

You know I love using lots of colours but I enjoyed this limited colour palette. There are only five different colours, although some of them are pretty similar. The pattern uses just five stitches and it is a good beginner pattern.

There is a handful smaller motifs based on the original design. They can be used on their own or maybe in a larger project where they are combined with the original motif.

Come to think of it, this pattern would actually work really well in a quilt. Maybe repeated multiple times but stitched in different colours. I most definitely do not have time for a project like that, but I can see it in my head. Someone make that project! :-D
