Trying Sashiko Stitching

I have been trying sashiko stitching lately and I am really enjoying it. Like, I could quite happily sit and do that the whole day long. It is really simple but that does not mean that it is easy. And that actually really appeals to me. So there will definitely be more sashiko in my future because I really want to learn this.

Have you tried sashiko?

I made a little video about the start of this first attempt, you can watch it on my YouTube channel. :-)

What I find really interesting is how there are no knots (atleast not as it is done in the Domestika sashiko course I am learning from) and you actually work on the wrong side of the fabric. New materials and techniques bring new perspectives…

Oh and I must admit that I bought the thread way before I decided to actually try sashiko simply because it is so pretty. Just look at it! :-D

(The thread is Daruma Yokota Sashiko thread – variegated rainbow from Beyond Measure.)
