Hexagon quilt labels

Remember the quilts I made for my niece and nephew? ^ ^ ^

I left the quilts in Denmark for my parents to bring them to the US. Oh by the way! I don’t think I’ve mentioned that Niece and Nephew have arrived, have I? In late September!

Anyway, I finally got round to stitching the labels for the quilts. I think I was dragging my feet a little because I wasn’t looking forward to stitching so many letters.

It was kinda boring, I won’t lie. But once I figured out how to do each letter, it made it a bit quicker to do. But I am glad I did embroider the labels and not just write them with a pen.

I wanted some little message on the labels, but I didn’t want something cloyingly sweet or cutesy, so I went for bits of song lyrics that have a bit of a science-y feel to them as well. I did think of doing something in Latin, but I thought that might be pushing the geekiness a bit too far. ;-)

On the orange label I used the title of a song by the Brand New Heavies: You Are The Universe. I’ve always liked that song. It’s nice and upbeat and it has inspiring lyrics.

On the green label, I slightly changed the title of the Moby song, We Are All Made of Stars. Because we are. And I like the idea of that. :-)

The labels are on their way to the US and my mum has promised she’ll sew them on. Since I can’t do it myself.
